The meeting was attended by Mr. Paul Hinder of Neath Port Talbot Council to discuss the refurbishment of the MUGA.
The details of the proposal were outlined by the members in that a complete overhaul was required to service and accommodate the public.
What has been something of a ‘white elephant’ for many years and has deteriorated will require being enlarged with a new 4G pitch, new floodlights, and the necessary machinery to manage maintenance.
To fund this major undertaking, grant funding possibly amounting to £200,000 will need to be sourced, with funders such as Pen Y Cymoedd, Ffynnon Oer and possibly Muirhall, along with funds from the Community Council.
To be able to access these funds plans will need to be drawn up, the public and the various groups in the village will need to be engaged and support the project, and a management plan will need to be in place. Specialist Companies with the technical experience will also need to be employed.
All parties agree that this will take 2/3 years to complete but is possible with the help and support of all
